Oh Grow Up! - My Walk With God 5/21/20
What does spiritually mature look like? OH GROW UP…
Goal is found in Scripture in 4 places: All with “Telios” mature, complete, fully grown, brought to its finish
Matthew 5:48 Be perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect
Ephesians 4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
James 1:4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing
Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
Think through these ideas, and let’s grow up as people, and as the body of Christ together…
1. Mature looks like a complete person, fully whole.
What is missing in me? What do I still need, we need to grow up?
2. Mature looks like stable – knows Jesus well, knows Scripture well, not easily knocked back, knocked over
How developed is my endurance? What trials have I been through and made it? How many victory scars do I bear?
How deep is my ability to discern, to distinguish?
3. Mature looks like integrity and character --
How much do I remind others of Jesus Christ?
How am I doing with loving God with all my heart…
Do I love my annoying neighbor like myself
4. Mature looks like not easy to offend or get upset..
Do I get offended easily?
How often do I over-react emotionally
Am I grown up in my wisdom, ability to see things, people, and situations from God’s point of view?
