Who Is Scoring Your Life?
Before you accomplish anything, God speaks about who you are.
Some scoreboards are obvious: likes, followers, grades, income and appearance.
Others are quieter: being needed, keeping everyone happy, staying healthy, looking spiritual, staying in control or being accepted by the right people.
Most of these things aren't evil. The problem begins when we ask them to answer a question they were never qualified to answer:
What am I worth?
If they like me, include me, want me or applaud me, I must be okay.
If I achieve, produce, advance and win, then I matter.
If I look right, feel right, stay young or stay healthy, then I have value.
If I can keep everything together, fix everything and stay needed, then I'll be safe.
Before you accomplish anything, God speaks about who you are.
Holiness isn't an audition for God's love. Obedience grows out of redemption.
Living stones. A chosen people. A royal priesthood.
Status, authority and reputation reveal whose approval has become ultimate.
Their behavior doesn't have to become the algorithm that determines yours.
Faithfulness sometimes has a price. Peter calls us to courage without hostility.
“Everybody does it” has never been God's definition of normal.
What happens when approval becomes rejection, criticism or exclusion?
Careers change. Bodies age. Influence fades. What remains when the score no longer works?
Join us as we walk through 1 Peter and discover what happens when God's Word becomes more authoritative than approval, performance, image, control or the crowd.
