VERBS OF THE SPIRIT

“But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code." Romans 7:6

Living for Jesus Christ includes learning to honor God the Holy Spirit, keep our minds on Him, allow Him to continually fill and control us. We are to be led by the Spirit, Walk in Him, Keep in step with him. His gifts are received to minister good news to people.. We produce the fruit of the Spirit, not of the flesh., We receive the Spirit of adoption and pray in the Spirit. He is the guarantee of the new covenant, sealing and indwelling our very bodies. He anoints us with power to preach good news to the poor. It is truly an adventure to live and serve in “the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.”

However, there are five negative verbs of the Spirit nestled in the New Testament. Warnings these are , ways which do not honor the Third Person of our Triune God. You and I must know, understand, and avoid these ways! Each verb is worthy of focused study. As we perceive and fathom these warnings, we also choose to pursue His positive verbs. The results are that we will bear the much fruit, fruit that lasts Jesus promised in the gospel of John 15:1-16..

  1. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit  (Ephesians 4:30)

  2. Do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31-32)

  3.  Do not resist the Holy Spirit  (Acts 7:51)

  4.  Do not quench the Holy Spirit  (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

  5.  Do not outrage/insult the Spirit of Grace  (Hebrews 10:29)

The Christian lifestyle is a Spirit lifestyle. Blessings on all who walk in this way..
